During the American revolution, Major Pierson led British troops to victory after a French attempt to remove the threat of Jersey privateers to shipping in the Atlantic. The Major died, during the Battle of Jersey (6th January 1781), from a single shot during the French invasion without saying a word. A painting celebrating the British victory entitled "The Death of Major Pierson" (1783) by John Singleton Copley is exhibited in the Tate Gallery in London, a copy can also be found in the St. Helier Town Hall.
The crisp white sheets of the Major Pierson Suite stand out against the sumptuous golds and reds of the canopy above the super-king sized bed, with large enclosed wardrobes, opulent en suite bathroom, and comfortable seating and work areas - perfect for your holiday in Jersey.
